Works & dances in English, French & Italian
I had been working as an advocate and educator in the field of body inclusivity and anti-dieting for 25 years before I became an Open Floor teacher. I had facilitated hundreds of psycho-educational workshop hours and coaching sessions. Teaching people to Tune In to their bodies and Move for vitality and pleasure was a cornerstone of my approach. The more I taught, the more I saw how embodied practices could support the people I worked with to know and trust their bodies.
I chose dance as my teaching practice because it’s fun, creative and free-form - I can’t get it wrong. I chose Open Floor because the curriculum was designed by a think tank of highly experienced trainers, psychotherapists, mindfulness teachers, embodiment facilitators and some of the most skilled conscious dance teachers globally.
In those first sessions I ran, it was clear that building trust through movement and embodied self awareness added a powerful, dynamic dimension to the work I was doing. The dance floor was the ideal doorway to re-connecting with the body, emotional regulation and integrating cognitive processes. I was hooked.
I completed the Open Floor Teacher Training in 2019 and continued to expand my teaching skills as Assistant Faculty and Mentor in the 2022-2024 Teacher Training. My work is informed by my many years as an avid student of embodiment in a variety of modalities and therapies, including 5Rhythms®, Iyengar Yoga, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais®, Pilates, Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, Experiential Anatomy and Somatic Experiencing.
As a lifelong learner, I continue to expand the quality of the support I offer to therapists and therapists in training. I completed the Certificate in Humanistic Counselling Skills at the Gestalt Centre in 2024 and am currently enrolled in a 2 year Gestalt Diploma in Counselling. My studies give me a unique therapeutic insight into how to provide supportive spaces for those who support.
Dancing Therapists…
I have been working in tandem with my sister, Sophie Boss, a Humanistic Psychotherapist, for over 25 years. We created Beyond Chocolate in 2000 - an inclusive, supportive community offering everyBODY a welcoming refuge from Diet & Wellness Culture and body shaming. We co-authored 2 books together. We continue to learn and grow together…
In 2021, Sophie created HOMA Psychotherapy, a non-academic, experiential Humanistic training centre in London, UK with a group of colleagues and we continue to collaborate and enjoy working together. I am HOMA’s Training co-ordinator and I teach Open Floor movement practice to trainees, with regular sessions throughout their training.
My happy place is by the sea, in Puglia - right down at the tip of Italy’s heel. This is where my body feels at home - paddling in the waves, kayaking, walking on the rocks, watching the sun set and resting. This is where I take time resource myself, to re-connect with the more than human world, time to rest and time to be.
